In his weekly Montana Catholic Register “Reflections” column, Bishop Murphy strongly advocates for the Church’s role in the public square on issues involving basic human rights, social justice, the protection of the gift of life and nuclear warfare. From his perspective, “Our response demands appreciation for and action on behalf of people suffering from prejudice, poverty, hunger and war. The Gospel must confront our own lives and the structures of society, business and politics when the message of Jesus is ignored, compromised or forgotten.”
