Coadjutor Archbishop Thomas J. Murphy offered this homily at a Mass of Welcome he concelebrated with Archbishop Raymond Hunthausen at St. James Cathedral in Seattle, WA. He described the consequences of accepting the Lord’s invitation to a vocation as an amazing and unlikely journey that enriched him in ways that would boggle the mind – from Chicago on the shore of Lake Michigan, to the Great Plains of Eastern Montana and now to Seattle on the shore of Puget Sound. He concluded this homily by stating, “Why did I respond to the invitation to ‘Come and see’ here in Western Washington? There are many reasons, but a primary one would be the ability to work, pray, laugh, dream and even cry at times with our Archbishop, Raymond Hunthausen.”
