The address “Theology of Stewardship” given to a gathering of priests and deacons of the Diocese of Bismarck, ND is a milestone event for Archbishop Murphy. It is one of the first occasions he spoke publicly about stewardship and the work of the committee he chaired whose charge was to develop a pastoral letter on the topic. This address defines the concept of stewardship. It explains how each and every Christian can make it a part of their lives. “Stewardship calls people to recognize possessions as gifts of God’s love,” said Archbishop Murphy. “Created in the image of God, human beings must use these gifts for their own good and the good of others whereby we acknowledge God’s sovereignty.”
