In his weekly Catholic Northwest Progress “In Joy and Hope” column, Archbishop Murphy shares his perspectives on the importance for all Catholics to exercise their right to vote – especially this year when Initiatives 119 and 120 are on the ballot in Washington State. These initiatives will respectfully legalize assisted suicide of terminally ill adults and materially expand abortion rights. “Our religious values call us to be good citizens,” said Archbishop Murphy. “As citizens, we need to examine our responsibilities: to register and vote; to analyze issues and assess candidates’ positions and qualifications; and to join with others in advocating for important values.”
