Bishop Murphy wrote this article on stewardship for an edition of the Catholic magazine Our Sunday Visitor. Stewardship was one of the central areas of focus of his ministry as a bishop. He stated that all Christians by their baptism and confirmation are called to a lifestyle of stewardship. “Stewardship calls people to recognize possessions as gifts of God’s love,” said Bishop Murphy. “Created in the image of God, human beings must use these gifts for their own good and the good of others whereby we offer to God the prayerful acknowledgement of his sovereignty.”
