Bishop Murphy delivered this homily on Thanksgiving Eve in a very unique setting. Malmstrom Air Force Base is home to more than 100 intercontinental ballistic nuclear missiles. The base is located within the Diocese of Great Falls-Billings, MT. His homily touched on the commonality all human beings share. He urged all present to embrace the central human action binding us together – giving thanks for the gifts a good and gracious God has bestowed upon us. “For each of us, gratitude and appreciation take on a unique expression in the gifts we ourselves possess which we might well take for granted – life, health, family, friends,” said Bishop Murphy. “It is good that within our nation, we set aside a day, a special time, to reflect on those gifts and to look for ways in which we might appreciate them more.”
