Bishop Murphy, Episcopal Advisor to the St. Vincent de Paul Society (SVDPS), delivered this address to the society’s Mid-Year Meeting in St. Louis, MO. His address focused on the mission and ministry of the SVDPS and also how the emerging ministry of the laity in the Catholic Church aligns with their founding principles. He shared the following thought, “The St. Vincent de Paul Society is rooted in the dream of Frederic Ozanam who recognized the need for lay involvement through practical charity to make the Gospel come alive.”
