Peace was the central theme of Archbishop Murphy’s homily at the St. Patrick’s Day Mass celebrated in St. James Cathedral in Seattle, WA. “We come here today to pray for peace in Northern Ireland. We pray that the violence which has scarred a land and divided a people might come to an end,” said Archbishop Murphy. He declared that for peace among people of a nation to take root, all parties to the conflict must first find peace in their own lives. The archbishop offered the following wish, “We pray that people might recapture the dream and dare to see the presence of God within each other, whether they are from North or South, whether they are English or Irish, whether they are Catholic or Protestant.”
