In the second in a series of six columns on spirituality for the Catholic Northwest Progress, Archbishop Murphy describes the symbolic importance of going to the top of the mountain to gain a clear vision of who we are in relation to a God of power and majesty. “Spirituality calls us to climb mountains,” said Archbishop Murphy. “It would be ideal if we could practically take the time to do so, but if our lives are to focus on God, we need to find a time which a mountain perspective offers.” Climbing to the top of the mountain provides an opportunity to encounter a place where we find God and God finds us.
