In his weekly “In Joy and Hope” column for the Catholic Northwest Progress, Archbishop Murphy draws attention to the many challenges faced by the rural communities in the Archdiocese of Seattle – especially those dependent on fishing or timber. He expresses true concern for the future of these communities. “Without realizing it or stopping to consider the consequences, a way of life is being lost,” said Archbishop Murphy. “What is happening to rural communities is a moral issue which needs to be addressed in light of all the values at stake.”
