In his homily offered at the Respect Life Mass in St. James Cathedral in Seattle, WA, Archbishop Murphy called on all present to value the gift of life from the moment of conception to natural death. The scope of his remarks extended beyond the unborn child to all human beings – all of whom are made in the image of God. “The challenge is … to create a just society, to use our resources to enhance the human condition at all levels, to respect the dignity and gift of each human being, to overcome oppression, whether it is the oppression of the poor or minorities, or women, to protect the rights of all,” said Archbishop Murphy. “This is our call to discipleship today.”
