Archbishop Murphy offered this homily at the Red Mass celebration in St. James Cathedral in Seattle, WA. The Red Mass is an annual celebration of all members of the legal profession – judges, lawyers, professors, government officials and law students. The archbishop called on all present to use their gifts of justice, wisdom and service to build up the body of Christ – to use their talents and abilities to serve the least fortunate in society. “The love of law should lead to the law of love,” said Archbishop Murphy. “Human law, precious as it is, cannot save us, cannot make us one with our God. Only love and do that.”
