Archbishop Murphy delivered this address to the annual Priests Days Retreat for all of the clergy of the Archdiocese of Seattle. It was the first opportunity for him to address this group as the leader of the Church of Western Washington. The archbishop thanked all present for their care, concern and support, shared his vision for the future of the archdiocese and offered some personal reflections on what gives him hope for the future of the Catholic Church. He offered the following concluding thoughts, “Please bear with my weaknesses and mistakes. Please bear with my impatience and other failings in my life. Please know, I am trying to be a disciple of Jesus. I pray that being Archbishop doesn’t get in the way!”
