In this homily delivered at a Mass for teachers and administrators of the Archdiocese of Seattle, Archbishop Murphy extends his sincere gratitude to all present for their efforts in making the rich treasure Catholic education a reality. He describes teaching as a “rare and invaluable invitation” to make a difference in the lives of young people. The archbishop believes communicating knowledge, facts and wisdom is only part of how teachers make a difference. “But, my friends, as teachers in a Catholic educational system, you are asked to give so much more,” said Archbishop Murphy. “You are asked to give the example of your own lives to the values and vision of the Gospel.”
