Archbishop Murphy based his homily delivered at a Mass celebrated for the Vietnamese community of Seattle, WA on the concept of martyrdom. He describes the greatest gift a human being can give is when he sacrifices his life for another. “We are asked to be martyrs today,” said Archbishop Murphy. “We are not asked to give up our lives on behalf of our faith, but we are asked to be witnesses who speak the message of Jesus to the world in which we live.”
