Archbishop Murphy delivered the address “Mary’s Call to Discipleship” to the Council of Catholic Women of the Archdiocese of Portland. He characterizes Mary as the model for discipleship. The archbishop offers insights and perspectives on three aspects of Mary’s discipleship: 1) As a woman of faith, 2) As a person who shares a ministry of presence and 3) As a person who offers a ministry of care. “At the heart of discipleship is the need for faith, faith challenges the disciple to take the risk to walk with another,” said Archbishop Murphy. “Faith is the essential ingredient in the life of anyone who wants to be the disciple of another.”
