In this address given at St. Joseph Hospital and Healthcare Center in Tacoma, WA, Archbishop Murphy praises the role Catholic healthcare facilities play in fulfilling the mission of Jesus Christ – to affirm the goodness and holiness of human life. He describes Catholic hospitals as different in that they embrace a respect for life shared with us by Jesus Christ. The archbishop elaborated by saying, “In a Catholic hospital, there is that tangible reality called the presence of the Lord which gives all that occurs here a new meaning and significance.”
