Archbishop Murphy offered this homily at a Reformation Sunday liturgy celebrated at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Seattle, WA. He acknowledged the historical divisions between the Lutheran and Roman Catholic faiths but also highlighted the significant progress made since the Second Vatican Council to close the divide between the two faiths. “Dialogue between our religious traditions has done much to break down walls of misunderstanding and dialogue has become an ecclesial fact of great importance,” said Archbishop Murphy. “Our gathering here tonight is a common witness to God’s call for unity.”
