Archbishop Murphy discusses the qualities of parish life in the Archdiocese of Seattle in his weekly Catholic Northwest Progress “In Joy and Hope” column. He describes the parish as the heart of our identity as a church. Parish communities throughout the Church of Western Washington offer a spirit of hospitality, reverent and prayerful celebrations of the Eucharist, quality priests and lay ministers and a commitment to ongoing education and formation. “I am blessed by the wonderful experiences I have in serving as bishop of this local church, because in Western Washington, our parishes are very much alive and well.” said Archbishop Murphy.
