In his homily offered at the Mass celebrated in St. James Cathedral in Seattle, WA to recognize the 40th Anniversary of Scouting Sunday, Archbishop Murphy offers some reflections on the Boy Scouts and their mission of service to others – the same mission of the Catholic Church. He emphasizes the importance for the Boy Scouts to pledge their fidelity to all the church asks of them. The archbishop concluded by stating, “May these last weeks of Lent be a special time for scout leaders and scouts to recognize the challenge which is theirs – a challenge to love and serve others as Jesus did – despite the cost.”
