Archbishop Murphy celebrated Mass on the first Sunday of Advent in St. James Cathedral in Seattle, WA. His homily describes all of God’s children as a people of hope, love and waiting. He reminds all present to take to heart the words of Jesus in the Gospel: “Be on guard lest your spirits become bloated with indulgence, drunkenness and worldly cares.” The archbishop emphasizes the importance of how we wait. “Life is a not a waiting game that looks to the future with fear; rather, life is waiting for the Lord to come in triumph,” said Archbishop Murphy. “But we anticipate his coming by helping to make him present now.”
