Archbishop Murphy offers personal reflections and memories of Sr. Rose Loretto in his weekly Catholic Northwest Progress “In Joy and Hope” column. Sr. Rose was his eighth grade teacher at St. Mel Grammar School in Chicago, IL. She had a profound effect on his life and was one of the first educators to open his eyes to the idea of a vocation to the priesthood. “She was a teacher with the rare gift of sharing not only knowledge, but values, ideals, dreams and hopes,” said Archbishop Murphy.
