Bishop Murphy uses the true meaning of love as the theme for his homily on Catholic education. In his view, real love demands giving on the part of students, teachers, administrators and parents. He believes the best gift all parents and educators can give students is their own example of faith and witness. The bishop articulated this vision by stating, “When everyone involved in our Catholic schools recognize that real love demands giving, then we become that rainbow which brightens up the community in which we live, which fills the horizon with new hope and we become the sign of God’s love among us.”
