In his address to a gathering of teachers and administrators of Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Seattle, Archbishop Murphy shared his thoughts on the identity and goals of Catholic education in Western Washington. He identified teachers and administrators as church ministers who must live out in word and action the core principles of the Catholic faith tradition. “A definition of a Catholic school, whatever else it indicates, must contain the teaching of faith,” said Archbishop Murphy. “This means a place where evangelization should take place – an introduction to the Gospel for children who may come from homes that have never heard the good news.”
