Archbishop Murphy was an unwavering advocate for the mission and ministry of Catholic education. In his homily at a Mass in St. James Cathedral in Seattle, WA to celebrate Catholic schools, he called on all present to recognize, appreciate and preserve the gift of Catholic education. The archbishop described all those who share the ministry of Catholic education as having a covenant with God whose central mission is to help discern what is of value in the world today. “To discern what is of value is to appreciate the potential of the human mind and the goodness of the human person,” said Archbishop Murphy. “It is the search for the good, the true and the beautiful.”
