Bishop Murphy delivered this address on Catholic education to the St. Leo Home and School Association. He was a staunch advocate for the mission and ministry of Catholic schools throughout his life. In his view, “A recognition of parents and teachers in the process of education is the presumption out of which Catholic education is able to be most successful. Without this recognition and involvement of parents, families and teachers, a Catholic education becomes a formality without the roots that are essential for the development of our children to be the Christian leaders of tomorrow.”
