The mission of Catholic Community Services of Western Washington (CCS) is the subject of Archbishop Murphy’s weekly Catholic Northwest Progress “In Joy and Hope” column. CCS is the largest private social service agency in Washington State providing a variety of services to the poor. “What gives CCS its unique identity and mission is its religious commitment to see the face of Christ in the individual person in need,” said Archbishop Murphy. “For CCS, behind each statistic of poverty and human need is the face of Christ whom we are asked to recognize, love and help.” The large majority of people served by CCS are not Catholic.
