Bishop Murphy dedicates his weekly Montana Catholic Register “Reflections” column to addressing the issue of religious literacy of all the faithful. His main point being expressed as follows, “I believe there is a real need to share the teachings of our Church with our total Catholic population, from child to adult. Religious education is a lifetime process. Such education must also include formation whereby we transfer the teaching of the Gospel and the Church to life situations.” He concludes this column by stating, “Are we raising a generation of Catholic illiterates? The answer is found when we look not only at what we teach but how we live and practice our faith.”
