Archbishop Murphy delivered this homily at a Mass celebrated at St. James Cathedral in Seattle, WA for the anointing of the sick. He reminded all present of Jesus Christ’s commitment to the sick, dying and infirm throughout his time on Earth. The archbishop described the anointing of the sick as “the opportunity to allow the Lord to touch our lives and to give us strength to accept the challenge of tolerating illness, sickness and even dying in order to unite ourselves more closely to the Lord Jesus.” Archbishop Murphy used this occasion to affirm his unwavering commitment to protecting the gift of life from birth to natural death.
