Bishop Murphy presided at the 70th Wedding Anniversary Mass of Joe and Rose Ricci at St. Mary’s Church in Livingston, MT. He focused in on the example of compassion exhibited by the Gospel story of the Good Samaritan who stops to help a stranger on the side of a road. Compassion in his view is essential to sustaining marriage for 70 years. The bishop offered the following thought, “If there is one virtue needed to maintain a relationship between people in marriage, it is the gift of compassion for compassion asks people to give of themselves, to be aware of others, to recognize the challenge of love.”
