Vocations
Introduction
Archbishop Murphy wrote this article for Vocations and Prayer Magazine. He describes how many political and societal changes in the world have profoundly influenced vocations to the priesthood since the Second Vatican Council. This lack of vocations presents an existential challenge – affecting such core foundations of the church as the celebration of the Eucharist. “Encouragement of vocations to the priesthood is an ongoing part of the mission and ministry of the Church,” said Archbishop Murphy. “It cannot be limited to a one-week program each year or included briefly in the Prayer of the Faithful.”
